It shows what is taught and how these outcomes are achieved through the completion of the degree program.

The MA subplan/option in Curriculum & Instruction offers advanced preparation for teachers in leadership, classroom teaching, staff development, alternative education, program development and successfully meeting the challenges of teaching in a diverse society. The program is designed for practicing educators to hone their skills and increase their knowledge in a specific area of the curriculum or pedagogical practice. The array of electives allows candidates to customize a program plan to fit both current needs and future leadership plans.

Subplan/Option Required: 9 units


Courses listed below in the General Studies Emphasis may be counted towards the required 9 units at the discretion of the Curriculum and Instruction Option Coordinator.

Subplan/Option Electives: 6 units


Any combination of courses listed below will satisfy the required 6 units. Emphases are listed to provide guidance for helping students to choose courses of interest that best fit your career goals, but there is no requirement for choosing a specific emphasis for fulfilling these units.
