The educational objective of the Electrical Engineering Program is to graduate Electrical Engineering students who:

  1. Are successfully practicing in the Electrical Engineering profession with solid theoretical and hands-on knowledge of Circuits, Electronics, Computer Software, Hardware, Control Systems, Communications, and Electrical Power.
  2. Contribute to society through their undergraduate preparation, whether they work in the engineering profession or they decide to pursue an alternate career.
  3. Pursue personal success by way of ethical and responsible behavior.
  4. Understand the challenges of a dynamically and globalized changing world and are willing to adapt their skills through continuous learning and self improvement.
  5. Master effective communication skills to obtain success either working individually or within a team environment.

Students are afforded the opportunity to specialize at the junior and senior level by choosing from a number of courses in the following areas: Power, Electronics including Analog and Digital Devices, Controls and Instrumentation including Robotics and Biomedical, Communications & Signal Processing including Analog and Digital, Digital Systems and Illumination Engineering.

Required Core Courses for Major: 77 units


Required of all students. A 2.0 cumulative GPA is required in core courses in order to receive a degree in the major.

Elective Core Courses: 21 units

12 of the 21 units must be 400 level courses.  A minimum of one lab (either 300 or 400 level) is required.  If a course has an associated lab, both must be taken.

General Education Requirements: 68 units
