Offered by: College of Education and Integrative Studies, Education Department
Based on the candidate’s academic background, requirements for the Special Education Subplan/Option are collaboratively determined by the candidate and advisor. The master’s candidate and assigned advisors complete an M.A. program contract that defines the learning goals to be accomplished during the master’s study. The contract must be approved by the department chair and the dean. Courses are selected from the Preliminary Level I and other M.A. options. As the CTC finalizes the Professional Clear Level II requirements, candidates may choose to embed the completion of the professional credential as the core of the program.
To complete the degree candidates are required to complete the research methods sequence as they develop and finalize their thesis or project. In lieu of the thesis or project, Special Education master’s candidates may choose to take a comprehensive exam that assesses their knowledge and skills on the goals defined in the degree contract.
