MU 2203 - Jazz and Pop Harmony and Techniques (3) The study of the harmonic and rhythmic idioms used in popular music and jazz. Covers the aural and written language of chord symbols, analysis and practical use of typical pop and jazz chord progressions and harmonies, the writing of lead sheets, using a “rhythm section,” and an introduction to commercial and jazz arranging techniques.
Prerequisite(s): MU 1201 .
