Design of major equipment common to most chemical industries. Emphasis on how equipment fits together and interacts in an integrated process. Design of steam and refrigeration cycles. Treatment of process design methodology. Process flow diagrams and piping and instrumentation diagrams. Energy integration in plant design. Optimization strategies in process design. Introduction to ammonia synthesis and oil refining. Use of process simulators.

Prerequisite(s): CHE 304 or CHE 3040; CHE 312 or CHE 3121; CHE 333L or CHE 3331L; and CHE 303 or CHE 3031.
