Cross-cultural comparison of religion through time, and in societies of varying complexity. Anthropological theories of origin, syncretism, and interrelation of religion with other components of culture. Religion as a response to human intellectual and emotional needs.

Prerequisite(s): Junior standing; and Lower division GE requirements in Area A, at least two sub-areas in Area C, and at least two sub-areas in Area D.
