The mission of the International Business and Marketing Department is to prepare students for specialized careers in either international business or marketing management by using a distinctly polytechnic ‘learning by doing’ approach and offering focused sub‑specializations in each option enabling students to stand out. This preparation gives both undergraduate and graduate students practical learning experiences in international business and marketing management. In addition, the Department seeks to give non‑majors a solid foundation in the application of business principles to the marketing of goods and services in international and domestic markets. To achieve excellence, the Department’s faculty undertakes programs of basic research, applied scholarship, and instructional development; it also forges and maintains strong links with the business community, both local and global.

The department promotes a global mindset, bridging theory and practice through project-based coursework in international marketing, consumer behavior analysis, professional selling, brand management, retail strategy, and logistics. Its culture is defined by active learning, technological integration, and intercultural competence. Faculty bring diverse academic and industry expertise, engaging students in applied research and service learning projects that address real-world business challenges-ranging from digital campaign design to cross-border strategy.

Students benefit from immersive resources such as digital marketing labs, case competitions, and a first-year seminar that builds academic support and career readiness. Co-curricular engagement is robust, featuring participation in the American Marketing Association chapter, International Business Association, and study abroad programs in countries across Europe, Asia, and Latin America. Internships with multinational firms, virtual global teams, and professional mentorships furnish direct connections to employers. Through these hands-on experiences and strategic partnerships, graduates emerge as culturally fluent, technically adept, and career-ready professionals poised to excel in the global business landscape.
