CE 5510 - Theory of Plates and Shells (3) The classical analysis of plates and shells, bending of thin plates, Fourier Series solution of simply supported platers and other complex boundaries, plates of various shapes and boundaries, plates subject to bending and membrane forces, plates on elastic foundations, circular plates, cylindrical shells, buckling of plates and shells, finite difference and finite element methods, numerical solutions of plate and shell problems, practical design solutions, computer applications to plates and shells.
