Major Required: 68 units


Subplan/Option Electives: 15 units


Any combination of courses listed below will satisfy the required 15 units. Emphases are listed to provide guidance for helping students to choose courses of interest that best fit your career goals, but there is no requirement for choosing a specific emphasis for fulfilling these units. Courses taken to satisfy Subplan/Option Required may not satisfy Subplan/Option Electives.

Unrestricted Electives: 6 units


Select a sufficient number of courses so that the total from Major Required, Subplan/Option Required, Subplan/Option Electives, Unrestricted Electives, and Graduation Requirements is at least 120 units.

Notes:


There will be a requirement for graduation - an assessment activity.

* Any General Education A1: Oral Communication credit is an acceptable substitution for COM 2204 (A1) .

*** Any General Education A3: Critical Thinking credit is an acceptable substitution for ENG 2105 (A3) .

**** The following conditions must be met by each student who wishes to earn a Verification Statement from CPP: 

  • DPD course total GPA must be at least 3.0, with no single grade lower than C-. If a student earns a grade of < C- in any DPD course, the student may graduate with a degree but will not be issued a verification statement until the course is completed with a successful grade as outlined above. 
  • Additionally, according to the ACEND policy, each student must pass all KRDN assessments. If a student fails to meet any of the KRDNs, it is the student’s responsibility to seek remediation from the instructor before they are eligible to receive the Verification Statement. 
  • KRDNs and corresponding assignments will be listed and clearly identified in each course’s syllabus (see DPD Course list)

Unless specific GE courses are required for the major, please refer to the list of approved courses in the General Education Program .

American Institutions: 6 units


The CSU requires all students complete coursework in US History, US Government, and California and local government. For more information on satisfying this requirement, consult American Institutions Courses List . If students satisfy these requirements through GE or major coursework, unrestricted electives may increase. 

University Writing Requirement (UWR): 3 units


Students must complete 3 units of writing-intensive coursework with a grade of C or higher. Students are eligible to take their UWR when they have completed 60 semester units.
