The Collins College of Hospitality Management at Cal Poly Pomona is one of the nation’s premier programs dedicated exclusively to hospitality management education. As the oldest and largest program of its kind in California, the college delivers a deeply immersive, experience-driven curriculum designed to meet the evolving needs of a global industry.
The hallmark of the Collins experience is the “learn by doing” approach, exemplified by The Restaurant at Kellogg Ranch (RKR)-a full-service, student-operated restaurant located on campus. Students manage every aspect of restaurant operations, including culinary production, service, marketing, and financial performance, allowing them to apply classroom concepts in real time to a functioning business.
In addition to on-campus immersion, students benefit from partnerships with major hospitality brands such as Marriott, Hilton, Disney, and Panda Restaurant Group. Industry leaders regularly engage with students through guest lectures, career mentoring, and the Executive-in-Residence program. The college also supports professional development through annual career expos and study abroad opportunities in locations such as Switzerland, Italy, and Australia.
Graduates of The Collins College are highly sought after for their leadership potential, operational fluency, and commitment to service excellence. They demonstrate proficiency in hospitality analytics, financial decision-making, guest experience design, and team management. By graduation, each student completes at least 800 hours of paid industry experience, ensuring they are workplace-ready and well-positioned for roles in lodging, food service, event planning, and global hospitality leadership.
