The College of Education and Integrative Studies (CEIS) at Cal Poly Pomona offers a distinctive polytechnic education that integrates interdisciplinary learning, social justice, and community engagement. CEIS encompasses undergraduate programs in Early Childhood Studies and Liberal Studies, as well as post-baccalaureate programs in Education and Educational Leadership, offering credential, master’s, and doctoral degrees. The college emphasizes inquiry-based, interactive instructional strategies and interdisciplinary curricula.
A hallmark of CEIS is its commitment to experiential learning and community partnerships. CEIS supports robust fieldwork partnerships with more than 35 K-12 districts in Los Angeles, San Bernardino, and Riverside counties, offering early and sustained classroom experiences for teacher candidates. Notably, the International Polytechnic High School (I-Poly), located on the Cal Poly Pomona campus, serves as a model for innovative teaching and offers direct experiences for secondary education teacher candidates.
CEIS also leads initiatives such as the Afrofuturism Initiative, which aim to address systemic inequities and promote holistic well-being through interdisciplinary, culturally relevant approaches.
Graduates of CEIS are prepared to serve as educators, administrators, and community leaders who can navigate complex educational landscapes and advocate for equity and inclusion. Through comprehensive academic programs and immersive field experiences, CEIS fosters professionals capable of effecting meaningful change in diverse settings.
