Agribusiness & Food Industry Management Mission: The Agribusiness & Food Industry Management program seeks to effectively educate and prepare students within the fields of agribusiness, food industries, finance, marketing, and management for successful careers. The program utilizes connections within the agricultural industry to incorporate real-world experiences and hands-on learning in addition to quality classroom instruction for a comprehensive education in agribusiness. In addition to cultivating beneficial relationships with potential employers, the program is dedicated to empowering graduates with the essential skills and knowledge necessary for professional careers in agribusiness and the food industry.

The majors culture blends business insight with applied agricultural practice, reflecting Cal Poly Pomona’s polytechnic philosophy. Through coursework in supply chain management, agricultural finance, and commodity marketing, students gain the tools to lead in farming, food distribution, policy, and entrepreneurial ventures. Faculty engage in industry-informed teaching and research that mirrors Southern California’s agricultural and food landscape. 

Agricultural Science Mission: The Agricultural Science major at Cal Poly Pomona is committed to providing a hands-on, career-focused education that prepares students for a wide range of roles in the agriculture industry. Guided by the university’s polytechnic “become-by-doing” philosophy, the program integrates scientific coursework with practical experience across plant and animal systems, agribusiness, and agricultural leadership and education. Students benefit from exceptional on-campus learning opportunities, including working directly with crops, livestock, greenhouses, and the campus farm, engaging in research and participating in student-operated enterprises that mirror real agricultural industry businesses and experiences. Through strong industry partnerships, dedicated faculty, and immersive laboratory and field experiences, the Agricultural Science equips students with the skills, insight, and resilience needed to thrive in a diverse and evolving agricultural landscape.
