Our mission is to foster global fashion leaders who promote sustainable innovation, technology, and ethical business practices within a culturally responsive environment.
The department is grounded in polytechnic values, combining theory and hands-on learning to prepare students for leadership in the global apparel sector. With Los Angeles as its backdrop, faculty embed professional industry standards across coursework in design, manufacturing, merchandising, and sustainability. Classrooms and labs feature digital textile printing, 3D body scanning, virtual reality store design, and a live retail micro-enterprise- ApparelScapes. Faculty conduct cutting-edge research in areas like textile sustainability and consumer behavior, and the program holds accreditation from TAPAC, further reflecting its applied quality.
Students gain extensive experiential opportunities: Design and Production students design, develop, and market their own clothing line; Fashion Retailing students manage an on-campus store; Textile Technology and Sustainability students test and innovate fabric materials. Clubs such as the Apparel Merchandising & Management Association, Fashion Society, and AATCC SoCal Broncos host fashion shows, networking events, workshops, and industry treks. Additional support comes from internship pipelines with top brands, career panels, mentorship networks, and study abroad programs in fashion capitals like London and Paris. These resources ensure graduates leave with professional portfolios, industry connections, and practical credentials.
