CE 528 - Earthquake-Resistant Design of Structures (4) Introduction to fundamental concepts in seismic design of structures. Characterization of earthquakes for design. Time-history analysis. Response spectral analysis. Seismic performance of various structural systems. Basis for code design procedures. Force- and displacement-based design.
Prerequisite(s): Undergraduate courses in reinforced concrete design and structural steel design, CE 521 , and graduate standing. Component(s): 4 lectures/problem-solving.
