ARO 327 - Aerospace Structural Mechanics II (3) External loads on aircraft, inertia forces and load factors, design loads, factor of- and margin of-safety, V-n diagrams. Strain energy. Analysis of deformation in members subject to axial, torsional, bending, shearing, and combined loading using Castigliano’s theorem. Statically indeterminate structures. Pressure vessels, yield criteria. Shear flow in closed and open thin-walled sections. Bending and shear stresses in beams with unsymmetrical cross-sections. Principles and analysis of stressed skin construction.
