AVS 4216 - Mammalian Endocrinology (3) A focused and thorough exploration of the endocrine system and its vital role in regulating growth, health, and development of livestock and companion animals. Systematically examine all major endocrine glands, including the thyroid, adrenal, and pituitary glands, to understand the fundamental role these glands play in supporting animal health. Apply this knowledge to clinical endocrinology, in which they discuss endocrine disorders, including hypothyroidism/hyperthyroidism, adrenal insufficiency, and Cushing’s disease. Learning is reinforced by the presentation of real-world clinical cases in small student groups. Provides a practical experience in diagnostics and therapeutic management. Preparation for veterinary, biomedical, or specialized animal science careers.
