AVS 4215L - Reproductive Physiology and Management Laboratory (1) Experiential lab focusing on practical reproductive management techniques across different mammalian species. Learn estrus detection methods using both observation and specialized estrus detection tools. Learn artificial insemination techniques in livestock animals and perform pregnancy detection through ultrasound imaging, hormonal ELISA assays, and rectal palpation. Visit a local dairy to learn about the reproductive management of dairy cattle and perform colostrum quality testing. Observational field trip to either a specialized veterinary theriogenology unit, human human-assisted reproduction lab, or on-farm livestock management clinic.
