EDU 5450 - Language and Culture Inquiry in Multilingual Settings (3)


Engagement in critical exploration of key historical, sociocultural, and linguistic issues in transformative education with a focus on Filipino- Latino- and Chinese- American communities in US schools. Analysis of policies, practices, and pedagogical strategies that foster equity, inclusivity, and academic success in multilingual settings. May include up to 20 hours of fieldwork.

Prerequisite(s): Must be admitted to one of the following: a) CPP’s Education Department’s Bilingual Program; b) an Education Department or Educational Leadership MA program; or c) upper division students in the Liberal Studies and ECS Bilingual Teacher pathway.
Grading Basis: Graded Only
Repeat for Credit: May be taken only once
