EDU 5400 - Teaching and Learning in Multilingual Classrooms (Spanish/ Filipino) (3) Bilingual teacher candidates apply the foundations of bilingual education methods, and of first and second language development for multilingual students. Learn to design quality instruction for Spanish/Filipino bilingual classrooms. Critically assess culturally sustaining practices with students, families, and communities. Course partially fulfills the requirements for the Bilingual Authorization (BilA) in Spanish or Filipino for Multiple and Single Subject teacher candidates. (Section 1 - Spanish; Section 2 - Filipino). May include up to 20 hours of fieldwork. This is a required course for Cal Poly Pomona’s Education Department’s Bilingual Program for teacher candidates obtaining the Bilingual Authorizations in Spanish or Filipino.
