ECS 3910 - Numeracy and Inquiry in Multilingual Contexts (3) Engagement in mathematical practices by applying developmentally appropriate inquiry and pedagogy to promote a deeper understanding of math. Learn to reason, problem-solve, construct, and critique arguments to make sense of mathematics. By carrying out fundamental mathematical procedures and explaining why mathematics works, learn to demonstrate the ability to teach math conceptually in multilingual contexts across infancy through the 8-year age range. Guided by cognitive science and the California State Frameworks, Learning Foundations, and Standards, culturally and linguistically sustaining pedagogical praxis will be explored.
Prerequisite(s): C or better in ECS 2010 , ECS 2010A , ECS 2100 , ECS 2100A , and ECS 2350 . Grading Basis: Graded Only Repeat for Credit: May be taken only once When Offered: Fall, Spring Course Category: Major Elective Course
