MU 2202 - Music Theory: Classical I (3) Materials and methods of composition and analysis for Western classical music, focusing mainly on diatonic materials. Scale realizations, cadences, related-key modulations, the Rule of the Octave, typical patterns (schemata), and four-part writing. Study of forms, including sentence, period, small binary, and small ternary (rounded binary). The student must be enrolled in musicianship concurrently with all theory classes unless they have completed all musicianship courses for their degree program.
