EWS 3700 - Race, Gender and the Law/Public Policies (3) [GE 4C]


Social science analysis of race, gender and the law/public policies. Explores the ways ideas and discourses about race and gender shape how laws and public policy are debated, adopted and implemented. Examines a range of topics including reproductive freedom, tribal sovereignty, civil rights law, domestic violence, welfare policy, immigration, and other issues of race and gender justice. How social relations impact and are impacted by policy processes and laws. Critical race and feminist legal studies will help dissect the intertwined relations between race, gender and law.

Prerequisite(s): Junior or senior standing; and completion of GE Areas 1 and 2, or Areas A and B4 are recommended.
