EDU 5100 - Introduction to Literacy Instruction (3) Theoretical models and pedagogical applications of literacy acquisition for native English speakers and English language learners. Emergent literacy, structure of language, phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, spelling and literacy assessment. 20 hours field experience.
Prerequisite(s): Junior or senior standing, or admitted into Multiple Subject, Single Subject, or Education Specialist Credential. Grading Basis: Graded Only Repeat for Credit: May be taken multiple times Minimum - Maximum Units: Total credit limited to 6 units, with a maximum of 3 units per semester.
