LS 3031 - The Social Sciences and the Liberal Arts (3)


A focused experience in the social sciences. Topics include foundational knowledge of social science disciplines including concepts and methods, and how knowledge production has been driven by the goal of understanding the complexity of human individuals, communities, and societies. The social sciences will themselves be analyzed as products of human society resulting in ethical dilemmas and misinformation. Practice basic research approaches (composing a literature review and proposing research methods) to analyze issues or problems in today’s local, national, or global societies. These research skills will be revisited and deepened in later courses, including Senior Capstone.

Prerequisite(s): LS 201 or LS 2011 , and LS 301 or LS 3011 ; or junior standing.
Grading Basis: Graded Only
Repeat for Credit: May be taken only once
