CHE 3111 - Transport Phenomena I (3) Introduction to fluid mechanics and heat transfer with application to the unit operations of chemical engineering. Topics include dimensional analysis, fluid properties, kinematics and dynamics of fluid flow, friction, boundary conditions, piping calculations, energy transfer by conduction, convection and radiation, and heat exchanger design.
Prerequisite(s): ME 214 or CHE 2851 ; PHY 133 or PHY 1520 ; MTE 207 or MTE 2070 ; C- or better in CHE 202 or CHE 2021 ; and CHE major or MTE minor. Corequisite(s): CHE 3221L.
