An overview of the marine physical environment and the organisms that inhabit it. Emphasis on the interconnections between the ecology of the oceans and the rest of the biosphere, including human activities. Course fulfills GE Synthesis B5.

Prerequisite(s): Junior or senior standing; and Lower division GE requirements in Areas A and B.
