Offered by: College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences, History Department
Recommended for students seeking a broad liberal education, pre-professional training in law, business, civil service, or graduate study leading to a career in college teaching, museum or public history, or related fields. Students are urged to take at least one foreign language, especially those who expect to pursue graduate study.

Required Core Courses for Major: 36 units
Required of all students. A 2.0 cumulative GPA is required in core courses in order to receive a degree in the major. Elective Core Courses: 36 units
- Additional upper-division history courses (36)
Required Support Courses: 8 units
The following major support courses should be used to satisfy the indicated GE requirements. If these courses are not used to satisfy GE, the total units to degree may be more than 180 units. Unrestricted Electives: 32-40 units
Select a sufficient number of courses so that the total from “Required Support”, “GE”, and “Unrestricted Electives” is at least 108 units.
Other Requirements:
All new majors see the Department Chair for advisement.
Continuing Students should see their assigned faculty advisor one or more times per year.
Students desiring to pursue graduate study should take at least one foreign language for Area C3. General Education Requirements: 68 units

Graduation Writing Test
All persons who receive undergraduate degrees from Cal Poly Pomona must pass the Graduation Writing Test (GWT). The test must be taken by the quarter following completion of 120 units for undergraduates.
