Education Specialist Credentials, Preliminary Mild/Moderate Disabilities and Moderate/Severe Disabilities

Education Specialist credentials authorize candidates to teach in grades K-12. The program of study for Preliminary Education Specialist Credentials includes required competencies for teaching English Language learners and teaching students with autism spectrum disorders. Admission to the program is required before any Core Courses can be taken. Candidates wishing to concurrently earn the Bilingual Authorization must consult the coordinator of the Bilingual Program for admission to the program and develop a program plan.  Information on the Bilingual Authorization can be found at http://www.cpp.edu/~ceis/education/credential-programs/programs/bilingual-authorization.shtml.

Adding an Education Specialist Credential onto a Multiple or Single Subject Credential


Teachers who already hold a Multiple or Single Subject Credential may earn a Preliminary Education Specialist Credential (Mild/Moderate and/or Moderate/Severe) by following the program admission requirements and procedures found at http://www.cpp.edu/~ceis/education/credential-programs/programs/education-specialist/preliminary-education-specialist.shtml.

Adding Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Severe Credential


Teachers who already possess an Education Specialist Credential in Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Severe and wish to add Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Severe should contact the Credential Services Office for complete program modification requirements.

Concurrent Credentials


The Multiple and Single Subject Credential programs are designed to facilitate concurrently earning the Education Specialist Credential. Interested students should contact the Credential Services Office for consultation and complete courses requirements.
