Candidates for the Single Subject Credential program typically teach in middle and high school settings. Students must have gained admission into the Single Subject Credential Program prior to registering for any of the core courses. All prerequisites must be completed before program admission. Under SB 2042 regulations, the Single Subject Credential authorizes individuals to teach in English Learner settings. Candidates wishing to concurrently earn the Bilingual Authorization must consult the coordinator of the Bilingual Program for admission to the program and develop a program plan.

The following courses are credential requirements. Although not prerequisite courses, it is advisable to take these courses during the prerequisite phase or as early as possible.
Required Core Courses: 16 units
Clinical Practice I: 11 units
These courses MUST be taken concurrently. Clinical Practice II: 11 units
