LS 4601S - Liberal Studies Synthesis Interdisciplinary Perspective on Contemporary Public Education (3) Explores varied perspectives on public education to analyze its purpose and effectiveness on student outcomes and lives. Discuss major issues in public education, with a focus on inequality, social justice, and civic engagement, using knowledge in the humanities and social sciences, and natural science when appropriate. Develop a complex understanding of the relationship between schools and society through interdisciplinary thinking. Service-learning at department public school partner or community partner site is required.
