ME 3111 - Fluid Mechanics (3)


Analysis and problems dealing with properties and behavior of fluids at rest and in motion. Fundamental concepts; fluid statics; transport theorem; flow of incompressible frictionless fluid; laminar and turbulent flow of real fluids in closed conduits; impulse and momentum applied to fluids; Similarity and dimensional analysis; steady closed conduit flow in series, parallel and branching pipes; pump/pipe networks; pump characteristics.

Prerequisite(s): Mechanical Engineering major, C or better in MAT 2140  or MAT 214, and C- or better in ME 2150  or ME 215.
