CHE 4450 - Chemical Process Synthesis and Design I (3) Design of major equipment common to most chemical industries. Emphasis on how equipment fits together and interacts in an integrated process. Design of steam and refrigeration cycles. Treatment of process design methodology. Process flow diagrams and piping and instrumentation diagrams. Energy integration in plant design. Optimization strategies in process design. Introduction to ammonia synthesis and oil refining. Use of process simulators.
