ECS 3600 - Emergent Literacy in First and Second Language Acquisition (3) Processes and pedagogical practices that support the development of reading, writing, speaking and listening for children from birth through age 12. A review of theories of first and second language acquisition, including pedagogical practices for children birth to age 12. Topics include children’s literature, phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, morphology, and syntax. Fieldwork assignment required.
