Methods and techniques of exploring subsurface soil, rock, and groundwater conditions. Obtaining samples, in-situ and laboratory testing to determine engineering properties. Interpretation of field and laboratory results to develop engineering parameters for design.

Prerequisite(s): CE 532, and graduate standing.
Component(s): 3 lectures/problem-solving. one 3-hour laboratory.
