EDU 5100 - Introduction to Literacy Instruction (3) Theoretical models and pedagogical applications of literacy acquisition for native English speakers and English language learners. Emergent literacy, structure of language, phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, spelling and literacy assessment. Twenty hours field experience.
Prerequisite(s): Junior standing or Senior standing, or admitted to Multiple Subject, Single Subject, or Education Specialist Program; Certificate of Clearance; and negative TB test. Component(s): Seminar Grading Basis: Graded Only Repeat for Credit: May be taken only once
