ME 3401 - System Dynamics (3) Analysis and synthesis of steady-state and transient engineering problems associated with mechanical engineering. Emphasis is placed upon formulating the differential or fundamental equations from basic assumptions and applying various methods of solution. Free and forced vibration with and without damping. Periodic and aperiodic excitation. Rotating unbalance, vibration isolation, vibration measuring instruments, computer simulations. 3 hours lectures/problem-solving.
Prerequisite(s): ME Majors; C- or better in ECE 231, ME 299; C- or better in ECE 231L, ME 299L; C- or better in MAT 216, MAT 224 or C- or better in MAT 2240 ; C- or better in ME 232A, ME 1101 /ME 1101L ; and C- or better in ME 301 or ME 2150 .
