ME 3131L - Thermal-Fluids Laboratory (1)

Measurement of viscosity of fluids, centrifugal pump and/or fan performance, pressure drop in pipes, flow rate meters, jet momentum, air velocity distribution in ducts, air conditioning and refrigeration systems, oxygen bomb calorimetry, components of engines and energy systems, and heat exchanger. Proficiency will be gained in the calibration and use of laboratory equipment, design of basic fluid mechanics and thermodynamics experiment, the acquisition, processing, and analysis of data by manual and automated methods, and report writing. 1 three hour laboratory.

Prerequisite(s): ME Majors; C- or better in GE Area A2; and GWT, CPU 4010, or CPU 401.
Corequisite(s): ME 312, ME 3121, or ME 4990.
