ETE 4351 - Data Communication and Networking (3)


Signal conversion methods and modulations; analog-to-digital, digital-to-analog, data-to signal. Sampling theorem; digitization and quantization. Error analysis; signal-to- quantum noise ratio, bit error, flow and control errors. Transmission media, data transmission methods, Internet and Open System Interconnection (OSI) model, frame transmission methods, multiplexing low-speed channels, Local Area Network (LAN), network devices, Transmission Control Protocol and Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) protocol, Ethernet, IEEE 802 standards.

Prerequisite(s): ESET major; ETE 3351  or ETE 335; and ETE 3351L  or ETE 335L.
Corequisite(s): ETE 4351L .
