MFE 4380 - Plastics Engineering (2) Plastic materials and their processing. Review of the pertinent organic chemistry of polymer materials. Classification, properties, characteristics and applications of plastics; polyethylene, PVC, ABS, polyesters, phenolics and urethanes. Study of processes including injection molding, extrusion, thermoforming and blowmolding; applications, process parameters, quality, economics and tooling considerations.
