ECS 3600 - Emergent Literacy in First and Second Language Acquisition (3) Processes and pedagogical practices that support the development of reading, writing, speaking, and listening for children from birth through age 8. A review of theories of first and second language acquisition, including pedagogical practices for children 0 to 8 years. Topics include children’s literature, phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, morphology, and syntax. Fieldwork assignment required.
