Historical review of cities from antiquity to modern times. The origins and development of cities in Europe, Asia, Africa, and America. Critical examination of social, economic, political, cultural and technological interrelationships that have determined city location, form, growth and decline over time. The relationships of those factors to modern urban planning. Course fulfills GE Sub-area C1.
