Nutrition, B.S. - Dietetics Subplan/Option: 120 units

Dietetics Subplan

The Didactic Program in Dietetics is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics. Students pursuing career goals in the dietetics field qualify for post-baccalaureate dietetic internships, and/or graduate programs. The department offers a post-baccalaureate Dietetic Internship Program which is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics. A minimum GPA of 3.0 overall and 3.0 in major courses is required for application to the Cal Poly Pomona Dietetic internship. Upon completion of a dietetic internship, graduates are eligible to take the registration examination to become registered dietitians. Students other than CPP students requesting transcript evaluation in order to determine needed coursework for completion of didactic dietetic coursework verification statement will be required to pay a fee of $50. CPP students wishing to take the Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR) exam will be required to pay a fee of $25 for submission of validated eligibility requirements to the Commission for Dietetic Registration. A culinary science or physiology minor may be included in this career option with a few additional courses. Dietitians are members of the professional health care team and serve as facilitators who translate scientific knowledge into practical applications so that consumers can make informed decisions about their diet.

Dietitians and DTRs are employed in hospitals, outpatient and long-term care facilities, community and government agencies, schools, the private sector, or are self-employed. Administrative dietitians supervise food service in hospitals, extended care facilities, restaurants, colleges, schools, and businesses.

Major Required: 74 units


There will be a requirement for graduation - an assessment activity.

Graduation Writing Test


The Graduation Writing Test (GWT) is suspended until Fall 2023. Students entering Cal Poly Pomona before Fall 2023 are not required to take the Graduation Writing Test.
