Offered by: College of Education and Integrative Studies, Education Department

The Department of Education offers Teacher Intern Programs in partnership with school districts in the area. The internship is an intensive two-year program, which leads to a Preliminary Multiple or Single Subject Credential (excluding art education and agricultural education) or Education Specialist Preliminary Level I Credential. During the internship, the school district employs the intern teacher as a full-time teacher of record.

Cal Poly Pomona does not solicit intern-teaching employment opportunities. This program is provided as a service to school districts that are unable to find a fully credentialed teacher for a specific teaching assignment. Candidates wishing to search for an intern teaching opportunity may seek an evaluation from the Credential Services office to determine if an “Intern Eligible” letter can be provided for use in contacting school districts.

Students interested in the Teacher Intern Program must attend a General Orientation session and an Intern Orientation. Please contact the Credential Services Office for more information, (909) 869-4400.

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS - In addition to the program admission requirements described under the type of credential sought, applicants must present a bona fide contract offer of employment from a school district to teach in a classroom appropriate to the credential sought.

All program requirements as outlined for the desired credential must be met to complete the Intern Teaching Credential program.

NOTE: Please check with the Intern Coordinator for the most current information regarding state regulations that govern intern programs since requirements are subject to change.
