The Electromechanical Systems Engineering Technology program and the Electronic Systems Engineering Technology program at Cal Poly Pomona are designed to prepare a diverse student population for application‑oriented technical careers as professional members of the engineering team. Using fundamental engineering principles and theories coupled with technological advancements, students gain an excellent technical background that prepares them to contribute knowledge and innovation throughout their careers as members of engineering teams. Our graduates also develop personal skills in the areas of written and oral communication, ethical responsibilities, and respect for diversity, while understanding the significance of lifelong learning practices.

The Electro‑Mechanical Engineering Technology department reflects Cal Poly Pomona’s polytechnic tradition by offering ABET-accredited Bachelor of Science degrees in Electronic Systems Engineering Technology and Electromechanical Systems Engineering Technology. With comprehensive curricula, extensive labs, and industry-facing projects, students learn to integrate electronics, controls, mechanics, and thermofluid systems-applying CAD, programming, instrumentation, robotics, and manufacturing within multidisciplinary teams. Faculty, many of whom bring real-world engineering and research experience, emphasize professional conduct, ethical decision-making, and diverse collaboration, preparing students to thrive as technical professionals in modern industries.  

Students gain hands-on experience through lab-intensive coursework, technical design projects, and software-based applications. Many begin contributing to engineering teams from day one, using tools such as CAD, embedded systems, and control platforms. Participation in student organizations-like IEEE Circuits & Systems, SCETA, SAE, MCAA, ASHRAE, and SME-offers workshops, competitions, scholarships, and networking. Graduates leave with strong technical proficiency, communication skills, and collaborative competence, ready to contribute as systems engineers, test engineers, field service specialists, or mechanical and electronic technologists from their first day in the workforce.
