The Department of Art offers two majors: a Bachelor of Arts in Art History and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Visual Communication Design.
The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Communication Design focuses on intensive work in art and design supported by a program of general studies, while the Bachelor of Arts in Art History focuses on the study of the history of art and design in the context of a broad program of general studies.
The Department of Art is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. Total curriculum must include 40 semester units of upper division courses. A grade of C- or better is required in all major courses. Many courses offered by the department are available for the general university student including a minor in Art History and a minor in Studio Arts.
All undergraduate and graduate students entering College of Environmental Design majors are required to purchase a computer that meets departmental specifications. All applicants are invited to check with their department office or go to the department’s website to obtain these specifications. Financial aid for this computer purchase is available to students qualifying for Federal Student Aid (requested via the FAFSA application). Please contact the University’s Office of Financial Aid (909-869-3700) for additional information.
