MAT 4950 - Teaching Mathematics in Secondary Schools I (4) Deep analysis of middle school mathematics curriculum from an advanced viewpoint, focused on the real number system. Creation of robust connections among the different topics, emphasizing their structure. Emphasizes both algebraic and geometric reasoning. Discussion of the role of precise language and notation in the development of mathematical thinking. This course has a field work component.
