Introduction to communication systems: Continuous wave modulation and demodulation. Power efficiency, bandwidth efficiency and system complexity of modulation systems. Performance of Communication systems in noise. Sampling process and various types of pulse modulation, introduction to digital modulation and demodulation, optimal reception in Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN), bit error rate (BER) and symbol error rate (SER) evaluation.

Prerequisite(s): ECE Major; and ECE 3715  or ECE 315.
