AHS 330 - Animal Behavior and Pet Perception (3)


Instruction will be given on the most recent understanding of Animal Behavior of companion pets. The focus will be the canine and feline species. Low stress handling techniques will be emphasized, as well as Pet Perception Management for the veterinary visit. Behavior modification without coercion, dominance, or other negative training methods will be taught. Students will learn common behavior disorders of cats and dogs and, more importantly, understand how to avoid perpetuating them in the clinical setting as well as educating the client on how to deal with abnormal behavior. Proper socialization and training of the juvenile canine and feline species will also be emphasized.

Prerequisite(s): AHS 128 AHS 128L  and AHS 129/129L .
